5 REASONS TO HAVE A MICRO WEDDING
January 12, 2024 | Written by Miranda Stewart
Thinking about tying the knot? Before you dive into the world of extravagant weddings, let’s talk about the beauty of keeping it micro. I am going to unlock the secrets of why a micro wedding might be the best decision you’ll make for your big day! And I’m a bit biased because when my husband I I got married, we had a micro wedding in 2020! It was THE BEST!
First off, what is a micro wedding? A micro wedding is a smaller scale wedding that typically has a guest count of 20-50 or less people. This keeps things intimate and special. And when you have less people to accommodate, there are so many benefits to having a micro wedding.
01. Smaller Guest List!
A smaller guest list means more heartfelt connections! Think of your favorite cozy dinner with friends—micro weddings are like that, but with a twinkle! With a smaller guest list, you're not just hosting, you're cocreating an intimate experience. With just under 40 guests that attended Kate & Abe’s wedding day, they could focus on celebrating and spending time with each guest! Every person there became an integral part of your love story, and the connections formed were deeper, more meaningful. Let's face it, planning a big wedding can be overwhelming. From the guest list to the seating chart, it's like orchestrating a grand production. With a smaller guest count, the logistics become simpler, and the focus shifts from perfection to pure enjoyment.
02. Quality Time and Moments!
In the hustle of a big wedding, spending quality time with each guest can be a challenge. Micro weddings, however, allow you to cherish meaningful moments with everyone present. From heartfelt conversations to shared laughter, micro weddings create a space for genuine connections that last beyond the big day. Ever notice how the smallest moments can be the most powerful? Like this moment of the bride and her grandma kissing her cheek. Or a few guests creating memories near the cabin right after the ceremony? Micro weddings are all about quality over quantity. Each moment, whether it's an impromptu speech, an unplanned dance-off, or an intimate exchange of vows, these moments become the heartbeats of your wedding day.
03. Nailing down your Dream Location!
Dreaming of getting married on a mountain top? Or at an Airbnb with a beautiful view? Maybe a destination wedding? Micro weddings make that dream more accessible than ever. Whether it's your grandma’s backyard or the Oregon Coast, the smaller guest count allows you to turn any location into a wonderland. K & C wanted to bring their guests to one of their favorite spots in Oregon, Elk Lake, and was the most stunning view during their ceremony!
04. Personalized Touches for your Wedding Day!
Micro weddings give you the canvas to paint your love story in the most personalized strokes. From handmade decor to handpicked details, every element reflects who you and your love are as a couple. This backyard micro wedding was filled with personal touches. The bride had her best friend create a beautiful floral bouquet for her, along with center pieces for all of the tables. Plus the brides dress was thrifted! Can you believe it? This was such a special wedding to associate shoot for Amanda Jae Photography!
05. Large Impact, Micro Budget!
Micro weddings make elegance and affordability dance hand in hand. With a large scale wedding, it’s easy to put a huge dent in your wallet. With a smaller scale wedding, you can allocate your budget where it matters most. Maybe you want to invest in your dream photographer or splurge on top notch food for your guests. Planning a dream wedding is totally doable without breaking the bank! M & T got married in 2020 and with so many challenges during their wedding process, they knew having a micro wedding was the only way they wanted celebrate their love!
The ideas of a small wedding might not be for everyone, but for those who value heartfelt connections, a micro wedding may be the perfect fit!
