HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FAMILY MINI SESSION

June 22, 2022

Hi, I am SO glad you’re here!

If you’re here, you have probably booked a mini session with me and are in need of a little guidance for your upcoming family mini session. I thought this is the perfect time to share how to prepare for your family mini session! In this blog, I share everything from your session prep, expectations, getting your kiddos to smile, and more!

1. Booking your Family Mini Session!

First things first, inquire via email on the seasonal mini session you’d like to book. Once you’ve chosen a date and time, you’ll be sent a proposal that contains your non-refundable retainer and contract. Once your retainer is paid and your contract is signed, you’ll be sent an email with day schedule, location directions, tips & tricks for your session.

And just like that, you’re officially scheduled for your family mini session! After you’ve book your mini session, you’ll be sent a confirmation email with details & directions for your session!

2. What to Expect During your Session!

Arrive early! If you happen to be late, you are forfeiting part of the session you’ve book, and there is no extending it. Remember, these are 15 minutes slots, so most likely there is someone scheduled before and after you!

The only thing you need to bring for your family mini session, is you and your family! Depending on what season you book your mini session, most likely I will have props set up for your mini session.

You don’t have to worry about posing or getting your family all in order - I’ll take care of that. Your job is to simply smile and enjoy making memories. During your mini session, I’ve got a plan of specific shots & directions I’ll be giving you. Of course, if there is time at the end, and you are wanting a specific photo, feel free to let me know! This is going to be such a fun session, so don’t stress. I know we’ll get some great photos that you’ll love!

3. Outfit Ideas!

It can be a challenge deciding on what to wear for your mini session, especially when you’re dressing your whole family. Some general tips I suggest are dressing in soft, neutral colors & patterns, and dress for comfort. Choosing a few soft neutral colors that compliment one another, are always timeless. And make sure you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing. This mini session is about capturing you and your family, so remember to wear something that reflects you and your personal style. You want to wear something you feel genuinely confident & happy in. I have a full Pinterest Board full of family outfit ideas. Check it out HERE!

4. Getting your Kiddos to Smile!

Sometime’s getting your kiddos to cooperate or smile during a session can be tough, but don’t worry, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. For babies, make sure baby is fed & bring some toys so I can get babies attention. For toddlers, bring bribe food. A treat that isn’t too messy. Gummies, puffs, or little marshmallows work great. And for older kiddos, go on a fun date after your mini session! Take the kids out to their favorite ice cream place as a treat!

5. After your Family Mini Session!

After your family mini session, you can expect your gallery to be delivered to you within 1-2 weeks from your session date. Once you receive your online gallery, you can choose 5 photos of your liking. You even have the option to purchase additional images or your ENTIRE gallery if you’d like. I love offering all of these options to all of my families!

I have a few spots left for my Summer Mini Session happening June 25th & July 1st. Book your Mini Session HERE!

I hope these few tips helped you prepare for your family mini session! If so, let me know down below!
