A LETTER TO MY GEORGIA LYN
November 5, 2021
My beautiful daughter. How are you one?
For 27 years, I dreamt about having a baby. I dreamt about what it would be like to be a mother to a little human. To take care of you and hold you. Here you are. A year later.
You have opened my eyes and my heart, more than I could have imagined. You have pushed me, more that I thought was capable of being pushed. I never knew what true love was, until you came into this world.
One of my favorite quotes shared on @wearethehomemakers and @this.surburban.life is this:
“Perhaps the best advice I’ve heard lately is that we get to be the parents that we needed. It’s far from a cakewalk to unlearn tendencies, default reactions, and blaze new trails of motherhood. But we get the chance to fill cracks where we’ve once felt empty; heal our own wounds by taking intentional, sure care that generational habits end with me. We get to be their soft landing place… what a gift.”
Georgia Lyn, thank you for being the greatest gift. Your first year of life has shown me that I capable of anything. That it’s impossible to loose myself when I have found myself, in you.
Oh sweet girl, how I love you so! Happy first birthday, sweetheart!
xo, your mama!
