WEEKLY ROUNDUPS: NEW YEAR & PRINTABLE 2023 CALENDAR

January 6, 2023

Happy 2023!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. This is such a fun season every year. I love looking back at the past year, reflecting and reevaluating goals and intentions.

1. 2022 Year in Review!

2022 was a year full of surprises, challenges, joy, and blessings. I photographed over 80 beautiful families and couples. Truly, I am SO grateful and blessed by all of you who support me every year!

I had been praying for a word this year and it is GROWTH. I believe this will be GROWTH in my relationship with the lord, GROWTH in learning new things such as planting a garden and raising chickens this spring, and GROWTH in my marriage. When I told me husband my word of the year he said “Does that mean we are having more kids?” haha oh boy! Let’s save that for another year! :)

This year my husband and I went though YearCompass, a free booklet that helps you reflect the past year and plan the next one. It was such a huge tool in discovering what we’d like to work on this year, individually and together.

2. Goodbye Instagram!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I shared that “I’m kissing Instagram goodbye.” Not forever, just in this season. Could be a month or a year. I had been feeling overwhelmed, drained, and uninspired. Someone on Instagram shared how they are taking a whole year off and will be back on Instagram in 2024. I thought, how could someone do that? Especially someone like me who the majority of their clientele is based on Instagram?

Then it sparked. Can I still be a great business owner without having Instagram? Absolutely. I knew I needed to cut ties with Instagram to achieve the things I wanted to accomplish, and ultimately I just needed a break. It has been taking up SO much of my time. I felt drained daily and like I was missing out everyday with my babies. I was on my phone constantly, and realized this is not the mama I want to be to my kids.

It’s been almost one week without Instagram, and I’m feeling re-inspired. I have felt so much peace to just live in the moment and be present. I have been trying new recipes, I’ve started sewing again, I made cute labels for my spices, we poured gravel in our driveway this week, and we are working on starting our garden this year. Our garlic is already planted!

Could I still achieve all of these things and be on Instagram. Possibly, but the act of deleting the app and shifting my energy and attention elsewhere allowed me to have the harmony I needed within myself and my home.

3. Fire Cider Recipe!

Ever since our household caught a nasty cold twice over the last couple of months, I’ve been doing lots of research on all natural home remedies. I’ve heard about fire cider and the benefits, and knew I had to make it. Fire cider is a traditional immune supporting and helps against colds, flu pathogens and is also a decongestant. It’s packed with immune boosting anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral herbs. Hense it’s name. it’s got a kick, so if you’re not into spicy drinks, you may want a chaser.

Happy 2023 and wishing you a beautiful year full of growth and blessings!

But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope; the steadfast love of the lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “the lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:21-24
