WEEKLY ROUNDUPS: FAMILY SESSION PREP, MOTHERHOOD INSPO, AND MORE
May 13, 2022
Happy Friday friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers day last weekend! The weather turned out so beautiful that day!
As a family photographer, I photograph alot of wonderful families year-round. I think it’s common for us mamas to be scared if our photos will turnout because of what you’re wearing or you’re worried your babes might throw a fit. I think the biggest piece to planning your family session is mentally preparing and know your session is going to go great, no matter what! So this week, I share a few steps on how to prepare for your family session, my view on motherhood, & more!
1. Be Yourselves & Have Fun!
Be yourselves. Start by dressing in something you would normally wear, something comfortable. And make sure your kiddos are comfortable too. Your family session will be a time to make some memories with your kiddos. So the last thing you want to feel is awkward or uncomfortable in what you’re wearing. No I’m not talking about wearing sweats or PJS (unless that’s what you want to wear, I won’t stop you!). I’m talking about a staple piece that bring our more of you!
This is the MOST important step for mom & dad! HAVE FUN! If your kids notice that you are stressed or worried, they might pick up on that and start feeling the same way. One of the best advices I give to parents, is make it a fun day! After your shoot, go out to lunch. Go to the park. Don’t just stop making memories with your kiddos at the end of your shoot. This allows your kiddos something to look forward too. Here is a family session down below that I captured this last week!
2. Latest Blog!
On Mother’s Day, Georgia & I celebrated 18 months of nursing. We took some self portraits, that will always hold a special place in my heart. Check out the blog HERE!
3. Current Read!
A group of women at my church, started a bible study a few weeks ago, and it has been really nice to connect with these gals. Currently we are reading “Look at you Girl” by Caitlin Zick, and Oh My Goodness, It is so good! It’s a book that dives deep into seeing yourself the way God does. In today’s society, us as women invest so much time in our looks, but what if we invested more time into our souls? This book is short and sweet (and will only take you a week to read if you read one chapter a day) and is a kickstart to start seeing yourself through a fresh set of lenses and gain a clear perspective of who we were made to be. You can get the book HERE!
3. Motherhood!
Lately, I’ve been reflecting and digging deep into what inspires me. Since I’ve become a mama, naturally, it’s motherhood. Check out my Instagram post HERE!
